About Me

I am a fully qualified British Sign Language/English Interpreter, living in Melton Mowbray and working locally (Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire),as well as in London.

I hold a 2:1 BA (Hons) British Sign Language/English Interpreting Degree and I was awarded a Distinction for my Post Graduate Diploma in British Sign Language/English Interpreting and Translation in 2011, when I became a fully Registered Sign Language Interpreter (RSLI).

I am registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) and I am also a member of Visual Language Professionals (VLP) and the National Union of British Sign Language Interpreters (NUBSLI).

I have professional indemnity insurance and an up to date enhanced DBS check.

I have previously worked as an in-house interpreter in a variety of domains, but I now work as a freelance Interpreter for 3 days a week, and In-house 2 days a week for SignVideo; a video relay service which provides interpreter access to Deaf people via web based technology.

My passion is working within the community setting, particularly focusing on medical and mental health bookings. I also have a large amount of Access to Work bookings and regular clients who I work with on a weekly basis.

On a personal note, I am a keen fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and to date I have raised just over £38,000 for the charity. Additionally, I am also on the local Macmillan Committee, where as a team we raise thousands of pounds every year. I have also started volunteer work for the Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue.

I love the outdoors, climbing mountains, (I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Toubkal and Everest Base Camp for charity), mountain biking, horse riding and animals. I have two Dogs, Piglet and Custard, and they are my world.
